Beach bike path winding across the sand in Santa Monica

Women's cycling & women-only rides on the Santa Monica Westside

Women's cycling clubs and women-only rides on the Santa Monica Westside, from easy miles on the beach path to the canyon climbs above Malibu.

Want flat, car-free miles before your first women’s group ride on the Westside? The beach path runs 22 miles down the coast from Pacific Palisades, and the canyon climbs are waiting when you’re ready. Here are the Santa Monica and Westside clubs that run as women’s clubs or post women-only rides.

Finding your first women’s group ride on the Westside

You’ll see two kinds of club in the list: women’s clubs, and mixed clubs whose next women-only ride falls in the search window. The date next to a mixed club is that ride. Clubs describe their own pace and style, so read the listing, open the ride page for the start city, and ask the organizers in the app before you join.

Where to ride on your own first

The Marvin Braude Bike Trail, the beach path, runs about 22 miles from Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades south through Santa Monica and Venice to Torrance County Beach. It’s car-free but shared with people walking and skating, so early mornings are calmest. Riders also use it to spin over to a ride start without touching traffic.

The road climbs are in the Santa Monica Mountains: ride Pacific Coast Highway toward Malibu for Latigo Canyon and Piuma Road, or head up Mandeville Canyon Road from Sunset Boulevard in Brentwood. For dirt, check closures first. As of July 2026, parts of Topanga State Park, including the Rogers Road, Rustic Canyon and Temescal Canyon trails, were still shut after the January 2025 Palisades Fire.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I find women's group rides on the Westside?

The list on this page shows the Santa Monica, Venice and Westside clubs that are women’s clubs or post women-only rides, with each one’s next ride date, start time and distance. It updates as clubs post rides, and you can message the organizers in the app before you go.

What does a “women only” ride mean on RiderFinder?

It’s a ride the organizing club has marked as open to women only. Women’s clubs show here with all their rides; mixed clubs show because of a women-only ride, and the date shown for them is that ride. Each club’s description says who else it welcomes.

Where can I ride on my own on the Westside before a women's group ride?

The beach path. The Marvin Braude Bike Trail runs about 22 miles from Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades south through Santa Monica and Venice to Torrance County Beach. It’s flat and car-free but shared with people walking and skating, so early mornings are calmest.

How do clubs end up on this page?

A club shows up when it’s set up as a women’s club or has a women-only ride in the next 30 days. Clubs are never added because of their name, so every club here chose the women-only setting itself.
