Women's cycling clubs & women-only rides in the San Fernando Valley

Women's cycling clubs and women-only rides in the San Fernando Valley, from the flat Sepulveda Basin loop to the Encino Velodrome.

Starting out in the Valley? The flat Sepulveda Basin loop circles Lake Balboa away from cars, and the same basin has an outdoor velodrome when you want to try the track. Here are the San Fernando Valley clubs that run as women’s clubs or post women-only rides.

Finding your first women’s group ride in the Valley

Clubs are in the list because they’re set up as women’s clubs or have marked a coming ride as women only. For a mixed club, the date shown is that women-only ride. Read the club’s own description for pace and terrain, open the ride page for the start point, and message the organizers in the app before you go.

Where to ride on your own first

The Sepulveda Basin is the Valley’s flat middle, where a bike path loops about 9 miles past Lake Balboa, shared with walkers and skaters. From there the G Line Bikeway runs about 18 miles toward Chatsworth and North Hollywood, mostly off-street. Sections near the Van Nuys and Sepulveda stations are closed for Metro work, with signed detours, until about December 2027.

The Encino Velodrome at 17301 Oxnard Street is a volunteer-run 250-meter outdoor track in the basin. New riders take an orientation class before riding it, so check the velodrome’s site for session times.

For dirt, Dirt Mulholland is the car-free, unpaved stretch of Mulholland Drive, usually reached from Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park at the south end of Reseda Boulevard. For a longer paved climb, Big Tujunga Canyon Road rises about 7 miles and 1,800 feet from Sunland into the Angeles National Forest.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I find women's group rides in the San Fernando Valley?

The list on this page shows the Valley clubs that are women’s clubs or post women-only rides, with each one’s next ride date, start time and distance. It updates as clubs post rides, and you can message the organizers in the app before you go.

What does a “women only” ride mean on RiderFinder?

It’s a ride the organizing club has marked as open to women only. Women’s clubs show here with all their rides; mixed clubs show because of a women-only ride, and the date shown for them is that ride. Each club’s description says who else it welcomes.

Where can I ride on my own in the Valley before a women's group ride?

The Sepulveda Basin bike path makes a flat loop of about 9 miles past Lake Balboa, shared with walkers and skaters. The G Line Bikeway runs about 18 miles beside the busway, though sections near the Van Nuys and Sepulveda stations are closed for Metro work, with signed detours, until about December 2027.

How do clubs end up on this page?

A club shows up when it’s set up as a women’s club or has a women-only ride in the next 30 days. Clubs are never added because of their name, so every club here chose the women-only setting itself.
