Waivers let your club ask riders to agree to your terms before they join your rides. This article covers creating, updating and retiring waivers, and seeing who signed.

A note before you start: RiderFinder isn’t a law firm. We give you the tools to collect agreements, but we don’t write, review or approve waiver terms, and we can’t tell you whether a waiver holds up where you ride. The terms are yours. For help writing one, see Waiver legal considerations and templates.

How club waivers work

  • A waiver covers your club, not a single ride. Riders sign once and they’re clear for every ride your club hosts, until you publish new terms.
  • Signing is a click-through agreement: the rider taps Agree & sign, and we record their identity and a timestamp.
  • Riders are asked at the moment they tap to join a ride or mark themselves interested. If they haven’t signed your active waivers yet, the terms appear right there, and agreeing completes their join.
  • You can have several active waivers at once. Riders must sign all of them before joining, and the app walks them through one after another.

Who can manage waivers

  • Owners and admins can create and retire waivers.
  • Moderators can read waivers and see who signed.
  • Regular members can’t see this area at all.

Creating a waiver

  1. Go to Club admin → Waivers.
  2. Give your waiver a title.
  3. Write the body. It can’t be empty.
  4. Use the preview to see exactly what a rider will see before signing.
  5. Publish it.

Formatting: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, headings, and bulleted or numbered lists. Links, images, tables and attachments aren’t supported.

Check your wording carefully before publishing. Waivers can’t be edited afterward.

Updating a waiver

There’s no edit button, and that’s deliberate: riders have already agreed to those exact words, so the text is frozen to keep every record accurate.

To change the wording:

  1. Open the waiver and tap Update waiver.
  2. Write the new terms and publish.

This creates a new version and retires the old one in the same step, so only the new terms bind riders going forward. The new waiver shows which one it replaces.

Two things to know:

  • Signatures on the old version don’t carry over. Riders who signed it will be asked to sign the new version the next time they join one of your rides.
  • Publishing new terms doesn’t affect riders already on a ride. The check only happens when someone joins or marks themselves interested.

Retiring a waiver

Retire a waiver when you no longer need it:

  • Nobody will be asked to sign it again.
  • Signatures already collected stay on record.
  • The retired waiver stays in your list. Use the Active / Retired filter to find it.

Retiring doesn’t erase anything.

Seeing who signed

Open any waiver to see its signatures list: who signed and when, newest first. Each version has its own list, so a new version starts empty and fills up as riders sign it. Retired waivers keep their lists too.

Frequently asked questions

Can I attach a waiver to a single ride?

No. Waivers cover the club, not individual rides.

What happens if a rider doesn't sign?

They can’t join or mark themselves interested in your club’s rides until they’ve signed all your active waivers.

Can a rider withdraw their signature?

Not in the app. If a rider wants to withdraw, they’ll contact you directly.

I also host rides under my own name. Do those use the club's waivers?

No. Rides you host personally use your personal waivers. See How do I create and manage waivers for rides I host myself?.
